The School of Music prides itself in the individualized attention it provides to students majoring in liberal arts, music business, music education, music composition, music therapy, music performance, collaborative piano, and graduate conducting. It is one of three Schools within the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts and has an enrollment of 375 music majors: 300 undergraduate and 75 graduate students. The School of Music has 53 full-time faculty and 50 graduate assistants.
The College:
The School of Music is located within the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts, which also includes the School of Theatre and Dance, the Wonsook Kim School of Art, and the Creative Technologies Program. In addition, the College supports the Illinois Shakespeare Festival at Ewing Cultural Center, the Center for the Performing Arts, University Galleries, and Central Illinois Regional Airport Student Art Gallery.

Illinois State University, founded in 1857, is the oldest public university in Illinois. Illinois State is a co-educational, residential university that emphasizes undergraduate study with more than 20,000 students. Our six colleges offer 174 undergraduate majors, 76 minors, 97 master’s programs, 17 doctoral degrees, and 40 certificate options. We have repeatedly been named a “Great Place to Work” by the Chronicle of Higher Education.
The Bloomington-Normal Community:
Illinois State University is located in the growing twin cities of Bloomington and Normal, with a population of approximately 132,000 and conveniently located approximately two hours from both Chicago and St. Louis.
