Texas A&M University-Kingsville is a multi-cultural, predominantly Hispanic-serving, state-assisted institution with an enrollment of about 7,000 students.  The School of Music (SOM), an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music, currently enrolls about 290 undergraduate and 25 graduate music majors, with 23 full-time and 18 part-time faculty members.  The SOM is housed in a brand new, 100,000 sq ft music facility, featuring four dedicated rehearsal halls with recording capability, a concert hall, recital hall, recording studio, and designed as the showcase building for the entrance to the campus. The SOM offers the following degrees: Bachelor of Music in Performance, Bachelor of Music with Teacher Certification, Master of Music in Music Education, Master of Music in Performance, and Master of Music in Conducting. The band program is well established and highly successful as evidenced by multiple performances by the Wind Symphony at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention, American Prize recognitions, and numerous high-profile commissions. The program, including four concert bands and the “Pride of South Texas” Marching Band, is led by a team of three directors, graduate students and an adjunct marching percussion instructor.
